Who is European Commission?
The Commission is composed of the College of Commissioners from 27 EU countries. Together, the 27 Members of the College are the Commission’s political leadership during a 5-year term.

DG Connect is responsible for managing the Digital Agenda. The Director-General is Roberto Viola under the responsibility of the European Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society.

Until 2019, 751 MEPs were elected to the European Parliament, which has been directly elected since 1979. No other EU institution is directly elected, with the Council of the European Union and the European Council being only indirectly legitimated through national elections.
What is the composition of the European Commission?
The European Commission consists of 28 members, one from each EU country. Article 17(5) of the Treaty on European Union stipulates that as from 1 November 2014, the Commission is to be made up of a number of members corresponding to two-thirds of the number of EU countries.
